Rolling Into Cross Lake

Join Dave and Adam in the Chat Room on Friday, March 26th from 10:00 - 11:00 AM CST and again from 1:00 - 2:00 PM CST!

We arrived at the community of Cross Lake around 2:30 p.m. today, covering 21 miles in 4 1/2 hours (it's just getting too easy).

We were welcomed by some friends we met while passing through Cotton Lake. Raymond, Kerry and Edwin made good on their promise to give us "some food"

when we arrived, and treated us to a meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, cake, tea, and plenty of Adam ties the tent out to a tree on the outskirts of Cross Lake.

other goodies, too.

appreciation for one another by howling and barking well into the night. Several stray dogs also wandered in throughout the evening to get in on the action.

Tomorrow, St. Paul-based lawyer Phil Finkelstein will join us for our trip across Playgreen Lake and into Norway House. Playgreen Lake is basically a continuation of Lake Winnipeg to the north, and has ice of varying thickness and quality. We are working on getting some advice on where the trouble spots are, so we can avoid any unplanned afternoon swimming excursions.

Until we leave, however, we plan to explore Cross Lake and sample itsUsing his snowshoe as an anchor, Adam continues to guy out the tent.

Left: Dean Smith was called into action by Raymond to prepare the turkey, which was delicious. Kudos to Dean.
