| There are two ways to
go from Cross Lake to Norway House. One mostly follows old snowmobile trails and
the other goes across Playgreen Lake, which often has bad ice. Which way should
we take?

| We arrived at the community
of Cross Lake around 2:30 p.m. today, covering 21 miles in 4 1/2 hours (it's just
getting too easy). We were welcomed by some friends we met while passing
through Cotton Lake. Raymond, Kerry and Edwin made good on their promise to give
us "some food" | |

and barking well into the night. Several stray dogs also wandered in throughout
the evening to get in on the action. Tomorrow, St. Paul-based lawyer Phil
Finkelstein will join us for our trip across Playgreen Lake and into Norway House.
Playgreen Lake is basically a continuation of Lake Winnipeg to the north, and
has ice of varying thickness and quality. We are working on getting some advice
on where the trouble spots are, so we can avoid any unplanned afternoon swimming
excursions. | |

is determined to find one or two. I prefer peanut butter, but I'll try to keep
an open mind. - Adam Left: Dean Smith was called into
action by Raymond to prepare the turkey, which was delicious. Kudos to Dean. |
