Today our thermometer broke! Now we are
with out a way to tell the temperature and
are in a bit of a pickle. Do you have any
suggestions for ways we can tell how cold/warm
it is outside?

Dylan poked his head out of the tent this morning and
saw a river otter bounding across Fishing Eagle Lake.
We watched the otter playfully dance across the lake
taking several steps and then sliding on its belly only
to get up and run again. Suddenly, I realized that the
otter was the first mammal that we had encountered since
leaving Gods
Lake Narrows almost a week ago.
Left: Success! We finally had a grouse dinner after
Adam bagged this spruce hen. We couldn't get a real
gun so we settled for a toy BB gun pistol. It worked,
but please don't try it at home.

The trails that we are following are full
of the tracks of moose, grouse, snowshoe hare. And other
animals, but we have encountered no signs of humans.
Right: We traveled into the night yesterday, but were
rewarded with a beautiful sky. |

Adam takes a break from the adventure to call his
girlfriend and wish her a happy birthday. AWWWWW! Happy
birthday, Lida. We wish you were here.

We creep, we slog. As we push on,
the trails are getting harder to follow. But on we shall
go ...

Tonight we are camped on an old trail that is slowly
being engulfed by the surrounding forest It took us
4 hours to cover less than 2 miles and we are all exhausted.
In the morning we will pack up camp and travel the last
half of a mile to Knee Lake. For now we will munch on
the smoked caribou that Georgina gave us in Gods
Lake Narrows and rest our tired muscles.
Keep exploring!
