A warm welcome in Gods Lake Narrows
About 2 miles outside the community of Gods
Lake Narrows we turned onto the winter road. Our speed
tripled as the dogs sprinted down the 30 yard wide plowed
surface. Soon the first houses came into view and after rounding
one last island the Gods
Lake Narrows sprawled before us.
|
As we raced for the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police)
office to meet our new friend Hector several snow mobiles
came racing towards us waving. We managed to stop the
dogs and were greeted by 3 members of the Gods Lake
Community. After introductions, they explained that
we were the first people to visit the community by dog
team since 1958, and they were very excited to see us.

Hector, The Man, has really rolled out the red
carpet for us. Thanks for all your hospitality Hector!
|
Our gracious hosts Hector and Chris from
the RCMP along with other members of the community are
rolling out the red carpet and our schedule is filling
up fast. Parties, schools, fishing outings and radio interviews
are just a few of the things planned so far. After a few
hours in Gods
Lake Narrows, I can already tell I am going to be
sad to leave.
Keep exploring!
Dave
