Daily Dilemma

Some sources have told us that the water in Costa Rica is safe to drink and others have said that we should drink bottled water. What should we do?

Our first taste of Costa Rica!

October 26th 9:30 PM Heredia, Costa Rica

We have been preparing for The Rainforest Project for over 6 months, and I can hardly believe that I am finally here!

I could hardly contain my excitement as I peered out the window of the airplane as we landed. Rolling mist mountains covered in dense vegetation loomed in all directions. After collecting my bags and going through customs, I walked outside and was immersed in warm, humid air.

Pika was waiting for me and soon we were zipping down narrow winding roads towards the cabin where I am now waiting for Frosty and our friend Erik to arrive.

It was great meeting Pika and talking about the things we will be exploring!

The number of plants species that take advantage of this warm, wet climate is astounding!

Erik is on our board of directors and will be joining us for the first week of the adventure. Their planes arrive late tonight, and I am sure they will be ready for a good night's sleep. Although sleeping so many amazing things right outside our door might be hard! There is a large waterfall only a short hike away from our cabin!

It has been raining and thundering for hours now and every few minutes the cabin shakes as the thunder rolls over head. Pika said that it usually rains in the afternoons and evenings, and that the mornings are usually clear.

This afternoon a thick layer of fog covered the forest.

Dave is all smiles after his first few hours in Costa Rica.

Make sure you help us with our Daily Dilemma. Some sources have told us that the water in Costa Rica is safe to drink and others have said that we should drink bottled water. What should we do?

Keep Exploring!
