More Critters of Costa Rica Lessons!

Critters, Critters, and more Critters!

One of the main reasons that we are so excited about exploring Costa Rica is the amazing biodiversity that is found there. Costa Rica is home to approximately 6% of all of the plants and animals that are found on earth. There are more species of plants and animals found in Costa Rica than all of the United States!

Critters of Costa Rica will give you an up-close and personal look at some the most fascinating and sometimes endangered species that we encounter.

If you are interested in learning about a particular animal, let us know by visiting Q and A. From there, you can send us your questions and suggestions.

Only female sea turtles ever return to land. They only nest on the same beach that they were born on!

One of the Critters that we might encounter is a sea turtle! There are 5 species that nest in Costa Rica, and scientists are working hard to learn more about these amazing reptiles.

Green Sea Turtles are the most endangered marine mammal in the world. Because Green Sea Turtles are so particular about where they make their nests, their habitat is extremely important. If a hotel gets built on the stretch of beach that a turtle nests on, the turtle will not lay her eggs. This is known as habitat destruction. Can you think of other forms of habitat destruction Green Sea Turtles might encounter?
