Fish or Mammal? Let's let the church decide!

Many voyageurs were Catholic. Many voyageurs also loved to eat beaver and used it to supplement their regular diet of dried peas. However, the Catholic church does not allow its followers to eat meat, other than fish on Fridays during Lent. So voyageurs had to abstain from eating the tasty beaver on Fridays. The Pope, leader of the Catholic church, got word of the voyageurs' predicament. A scientist was sent from Europe to study the Beavers. When he returned he reported that the beavers spent their days swimming in the water and that they had scales on their tails, like a fish. The Pope declared that the beaver was a fish and from then of the voyageurs were allows to eat fish on Friday!

I don't know about you, but I don't see much of a resemblance between a fish and a beaver!

Can you name three characteristic s that all mammals have? I will give you one example, they all have hair.
