David Freeman
Co-Director ![]() |
In the Winter of 2001 Dave completed a 6 week, 225 mile,
solo toboggan trek along the Minnesota/Ontario border. Dubbed the Border
Country Adventure, Dave used a lap top computer and Globalstar Satellite
phone to post journals, photos, and other educational resources to the internet,
and connected with classrooms across the country during his first learning
adventure. This first adventure provided the foundation from which The Wilderness
Classroom Organization and many more Learning Adventures have grown. During
the last four years he has played a vital role in the development and implementation
of seven online learning adventures. Dave Freeman graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied Biology and Anthropology. Dave is also a web master, programmer, and wilderness guide. He has worked as a dog sledding instructor, sea kayaking instructor, and canoeing outfitter/instructor for 10 seasons, introducing hundreds of participants to wilderness travel. |

Anna Seno
|
Anna Seno, the brave lone female on Project Peru 2, considers herself to be dedicated an enthusiastic and adventurous spirit. She has several years professional experience in youth development, wilderness therapy, mentoring/school based programs, and social services organizations. With degrees from Ohio University in Sociology and Outdoor Education, her specialization is in outdoor and wilderness therapy. She recently completed a 5-week intensive Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga training in San Francisco, which she hopes to share with families that don't have the means available to attend expensive classes. In 2001, she spent several months working with a community in rural Ecuador, learning from and sharing with the village people. In 2002, Anna led "at-risk" youth on a couple of 150-mile expeditions down the class II-III whitewater of the New River in West Virginia. Anna has a great desire to share laughs and bring love to the many faces of the women and children suffering throughout the world. |

Patrick Sherwin
|
Patrick Sherwin is a long time outdoor enthusiast with lots of river running experience. A great love for nature and exploration has led Patrick from the rivers of West Virginia, up to the mountains of Colorado, and over to the beaches of Santa Cruz. Since graduating from Ohio University in Biology, Patrick has dedicated the past four years to finding solutions to our impact on the environment. He currently works in the renewable energy industry providing sensible power solutions such as solar, wind and micro-hydro electricity. This technology is particularly appropriate for remote or "off-grid" regions like those found on WCO adventures. In the past, Patrick has instructed youth and adult in many outdoor adventures including: wilderness therapy, whitewater rafting, snowboarding and self-discovery. |
