We stayed in a hut right next to the school in Arequipa. At 7 a.m. sharp, the bell rang and school was soon in session. First, the students lined up outside and the teacher congratulated them on being on time to school. Next, the students sang the Peruvian Hymn to the Flag. Later, the students did some singing and dancing during gym class. Only elementary school students attend school in Arequipa. For high school, most students board in Iquitos.
