Mystery Photo Answer

Sea anemones live in the intertidal and subtidal zones. They are related to corals, jellyfish, and Hydra. A sea anemone is a polyp attached at the bottom to a rock or the ocean floor with an adhesive foot, called a pedal disk. It has a column shaped body with a mouth, or oral disc, on top. The mouth is surrounded by tentacles. The tentacles have tiny hairs that inject toxins into their prey. This particular anenome is called an Aggregating Anemone. It is the most common anenome on the Pacific Coast. Its color comes from algae that live in symbiosis with the anenome.
