I am a Blue Wildebeest Here is some more information about Wildebeests: We saw them in some very dry places, but it turns out they are not so well adapted to life in very dry environments. They need to drink water every 2-3 days. In times of drought, they are one of the first animals to show signs of decline. One of the big problems, is that they would traditionally migrate to a different place to find water, but many of their natural migration routes are now cut off by cattle fences. They prefer plains with short grasses and also places that flood from time to time. If grass becomes too tall they tend to migrate. They like to graze when its cool and rest in shade during the hottest part of the day. Mothers have one calf after about 8 months. Males weigh 230-270kg (500-600 pounds), and females weigh 160-200kg (350-450 pounds).
