Cape Fur Seal pup This type of fur seal is found along the coasts of southern Africa, in Namibia, southern Angola, and South Africa. We visited them at Cape Cross, Namibia. The colony started at Cape Cross sometime between 1846 and 1884. Namibia has 16 colonies and Cape Cross is one of the two largest. The Cape Cross population has increased to 250,000 seals over the past 50 years. Fur seal pups (like this one shown in the photo) form small groups after they stop drinking their mother's milk.
