I am a pro at climbing into the canoe. I can hop in off of small rocks, wet and slippery rocks, mud, weeds, sand, you name it. So when Dave and Amy got a ride into the store in a motorboat, they brought me along. Now this motorboat is much bigger than the canoe. It was parked alongside a rickety old dock.
We walked out onto the dock and everyone got in. Dave didn’t warn me about a board that was just lying there loose. I stepped on one end of it and – splash! The board gave way, just like a teeter totter. The front half of me plunged into the green slimy water. My back legs were stuck for a second on the stable part of the dock.
It took me a minute to figure out what was going on. I managed to get my head out of the water, coughing and spitting. Then I got my front paws on the dock and Amy helped me climb out. How embarrassing!
Well, we got in the boat without further incident and rode to town. My green fur dried in the wind. I waited outside the store and was very happy to see Dave and Amy emerge with a brand new, big bag of dog food for me.
