Yesterday evening Amy spotted this painted turtle walking around near our campsite. We were pretty sure that she was looking for a place to dig a hole and lay eggs. Being careful not to disturb her, we checked on her from a distance every few minutes. Over the course of two hours she dug a shallow hole with her back legs, laid her eggs, and then used her back legs to cover the hole with dirt. After she was done, she crawled 50 feet back to the lake and disappeared. The circle of life continues.
