Covy is actually a nickname. It is short for Lady Covington of Wintergreen. I am a mama dog. I have two nine-week old puppies. When my puppies were just three weeks old, there was a blizzard here at Wintergreen. My puppies and I had been staying in the dog yard in a pen separate from all the other dogs. Well, this blizzard got me pretty worried for the wellbeing of my puppies. I broke down the door of our pen and carried the puppies one by one up to the lodge. We set up a very pleasant home under the lodge.


I like this spot for several reasons. It is more sheltered from wind and storms, we are close to the people, and we have very easy access to food. The people feed us dog food daily and every once in a while we are lucky enough to get some scraps from a people meal. There is nothing I like more than people food!

My puppies are getting more and more mobile. They used to just waddle around under the house, occasionally coming out when people come by the front door. Now, they can run around and even climb stairs! I am so proud of my puppies.

I am not disappointed that I don't get to go on this trip to Hudson Bay. I am perfectly content staying here and taking care of my puppies. I imagine that when all the guides get back from this trip my puppies will seem enormous!
