What can we do about poverty in the big city?
In rural parts of the Amazon people are able to grow and gather most of their food. Most of the people we have met do not have very much money, but they have plenty to eat and seem to have a good life.
Belem is a large city with a population of over a million people. Like in large cities in the United States people buy their food, and need money to survive.
Today we had several people come up to us asking for food or money. This is something totally new to us and we are not sure what we should do. What do you think we should do when someone asks us for food or money? Should we give them money? Should we buy them food? We can't give money and food to everyone who needs it, so how should we determine who to help?

We beleive you should give a little to everyone or maybe bring some food from the rain forest to give. We throught you can give them some seeds to plant.

You probably shouldn't give them money because you don't know what they'll spend it on but you could give them food.

Maybe once in a while when you have a lot of food or money you can give them little of it.

You should take them out to dinner or give some money.

I think you should find an area church and ask how you can help the area people most. That way you can be sure the people who really need it get it.
