Season's Eatings?
We have eaten alot of fresh fruit since we began the Trans-Amazon Expedition 3. At the beginning of the trip people gave us bananas. Towards the middle of the trip mangos were in season. Lately we have been given and bought many watermelons. It is great eating all this fresh fruit as it comes into season.
What foods are in season near where you live? People who use the Wilderness Classroom live in many different climates. Tell us where you live and what is in season near your home.
Response to the Halloween Daily Dilemma:
We celebrated Halloween over the weekend. You gave us many great costume suggestions. We loved the suggestion to carve a watermelon like a jackolantern. Check out Trip Tracker to see our watermelon/jackolantern!
Response to daily Dilemma about predicting the wind:
We have been keeping recording if we can see the stars twinkling each night and the wind speed each day to see if twinkling stars help predict high winds the following day. Below are the results we have recorded so far.
Tuesday: Twinkling 10 to 15 mile per hour winds
Wednesday No twinkling 10 to 15 mile per hour winds
Thursday Twinkling 15 mile per hour winds
Friday Twinkling 5 to 10 mile per hour winds
Saturday Twinkling 10 to 20 mile per hour winds
What is your favorite part of the Trans-Amazon Expedition?

We live in the northwest central part of Illinois. We can still get apples, all squash, especially pumpkins, tomatoes, carrots, onions, and potatoes right now. We just had our first freeze a couple of weeks ago, and that put an end to our growing season.

Dear Trans amazon expedition explorers,
I went to the groccery store last friday and I found that there were many mangos out so then I assumed that that they were in season. But evidentlly, they were not. Mangos were just getting out of season and they were selling the rest. Instead, Bananas, oranges, pears, and lemons are therefore in season. I can now conclude that i answered your question.
Your welcome
