How can we thank the Costa Carvalhio family?
Daily Dilemma to be posted for 11-14
We've been staying at a house next door to the Costa Carvahlio family for two days now. They have been incredible hosts. We've learned about their lives, and we've also been able to share some of what life is like in the United States.
Last night we showed pictures of our homes and the area that we live. The pictures of snow and frozen lakes really blew them away.
Tonight we cooked them a spaghetti dinner (though they didn't really seem to like it much - it was much too different from what they normally eat).
Our dilemma is how we should thank the Costa Carvalhio family for their hospitality. What could we do or leave for them that would help them remember us?
Answer to yesterday's dilemma:
Thank you for all of your responses to yesterday's dilemma. We have decided to go to Belem a day early, and to spend our time exploring the area to learn about the animals and people. Tomorrow we are going to go to a local school that is in a small side channel. The next day we are going to paddle into a very small channel to look for animals and medicinal plants with the Costa Carvalhio family.

We think you could give them recipes that you like but leave out spagetti. Give them a photo album with pictures of snow, or make a thank you card out of the picture of you snowboarding and sign the card and decorate them. You could sign a t-shirt and give it to them.

If you can maybe you can find some medicinal plants for the family. A great group photo is nice to leave with them, or maybe a keepsake like a small piece of jewelry.

Maybe you could plant a something so as it grows they will remember your visit.
