What should we do with our used batteries?
Battery Recycling
We use quite a few AA batteries to power our equipment. We have rechargable batteries along, and use them as often as possible. However, we do have to use some batteries that aren't rechargable.
The dilemma is what to do with our used, heavy batteries? Most of the communities that we travel through don't recycle batteries. What are your ideas to do with them? How do you dispose of batteries?
Answer to yesterday's dilemma:
Thank you for your suggestions about how we should respond when we are offered food that is not rainforest friendly.
Most students have suggested that we should politely explain that eating the endangered animal that we are offered is bad for the rainforest and so we would prefer to eat other food.

Is it possible to get a large battery and use it instead of lots of little ones , Atreyu saw this in Costa Rica? Save them up until you get to a place where they can be disposed of properly in the big city.

Even though the batteries might be heavy, bring them back to the U.S. and recycle them here. This will be better for the environment.

I think you should hold on to them until you get back to the States.

You should throw them away because they are heavy and heavy stuff could hurt your backs, and you would not like they.
