What should we do in Santarem?
On Thursday, we plan to be in Santarem. This city is the halfway point of our journey and we will stay there for two nights (1 full day). We need your help to figure out what we should do in Santarem. You have three options to choose from. Should we visit the Santarem Museum, the Manatee Protection Center in Lago Verde, or a forest preserve?
At the Santarem museum we could learn about the founding of the city of Santarem, view paintings by local artists, and view artifacts from the Tapajoara culture, which lived here for more than 6000 years.
The Manatee Protection Center is located on Lago Verde (Green Lake). They have a few manatees that they are rehabilitating in floating enclosures. It would be possible to take a boat out to these enclosures during the manatee feeding time.
There is a large forest preserve near Santarem. If we take a walking tour of the forest preserve, we could learn about Amazonian plants.
What should we visit in Santarem?

Our school thinks that you schould visit the Manatee Protection Center. We think that will help the environment by saving the animals, even though it is only one species.

I think it would be great to go to the manatee protection center to not only help manatees but learn more about these interesting animals. Also I love manatees since I live in Florida!!

It would be great if you checked out the Manatee Protection Program. It would be awesome to save Manatees!!!!!!!!!

You should visit the manatee protection center to laern about manatees and that if you visit at the right time you could feed them.
