How should we schedule our days?
We need your help in planning the final 575 miles of our expedition. We are approaching an area where the Amazon River breaks up into a series of smaller rivers and islands. Before we left, we had planned to spend a number of days exploring this area during our expedition. In fact, this was the section of the river we were all most excited about. Our hope is that area has more remote wilderness, and therefore might have more wildlife.
However, the Amazon River's current is slower than we thought it would be. Plus we have never encountered the strong winds we've paddling into for two weeks now. The slower current and high winds are making us travel a little slower than we anticipated.
We have a couple of options. If we continue to travel 9 hours each day and take only a few rest days, we can spend time exploring the more remote Amazon wilderness in search of interesting wildlife.
If we travel for fewer hours each day, we can have time to stop earlier in the day to talk with farmers and fishermen. This option will the be the easiest on our bodies.
We could also push all the way through and arrive in Belem, the city on the Atlantic Ocean, a few days early to explore the city. Belem is supposed to be a beautiful city, but does not offer much for tourists to do.
What do you think we should do? Should we push on, slow down, or hurry up? Let us know why you're making the decision you did by voting and then submitting a comment.
