
Fish in a net. These fishermen have just caught hundreds of fish with their large net. They will throw the net out and let it sit for several hours. The buoys attached to the net keep one end floating, while the rest of the net sinks. As the fishermen pull in the net, the fish are gathered up and eventually pulled into the boat. The fishermen will sell these fish at the market.

We found these jaraqui fish for sale in a local fish market. You can tell they are jaraqui because of their stripped tails. Jaraqui fish are very commonly caught in nets, and they are an important source of food for people living near the Amazon River.
