How can we thank the wonderful people we meet on the river? printer.gif

Throughout our first week on the river we have encountered huge amounts of hospitality. It seems that every one we talk to offers something to us. People usually offer fruit, fish, and even places to stay. We are wondering how we should thank these very generous people we meet along the river. How would you thank someone for being extra nice to you?

Answer to yesterday's dilemma:

Thank you for all of your wonderful interview questions. We will be interviewing a river boat captain this week, and we will try to ask as many of your questions as we can. Check back soon to learn more about life on the Amazon River.

How should we change our habits to help the planet?

You could take their pictures and post them on the web site.

buy them a gift or give them food in return

you guys our awsome. i hope you make it through the journey. happy trails.

I think you should give them presents such as a different kind of animal that's rare to find

Let them listen to some of your music from your ipod. Tell them stories about your life.

You could return the favor. You could make them a gift basket. You could give them things from the U.S.A. like stamps, coins, toys and so on. Steven says give them a foot massage.

Help them with chores or give them something small that they may need like a toothbrush.

Show them how to use your computer or video tape them and show it to them. On your next adventure out of the country you could bring with you small U.S. items to give as gifts, such as bubble gum, candies, or small toys like match box cars.

The St. Ann kindergarteners say that you should...

Just say thank you. Everyone likes it when you say thanks.

or Maybe you could get some red paper and make red hearts and cut them out and give them to the people with your names and a note.

or Maybe you could offer to do chores for them.

These are some ideas for showing thanks.

Give them something in return.

Thank them by taking their picture, later you could mail a nice keepsake as a thank you. They should receive it new years, then they can later remember the happy encounter. And always say thank you
