Bugs, plants, or kids, which should we study? printer.gif

Next week, we're going to take a day off to give our muscles a little break. However, we don't just want to spend the day loafing around camp. We want to get out and learn something new.

We'll be studying seasonal changes next week. So, we'll be looking at ways that water level affects the Amazon's inhabitants.

What should we study during our rest day? Here are your options:
1. Set off with Jay as our guide to look for interesting insects that have adapted to live in wet areas.
2. Interview kids to find out what are each seasons' best activities; like sports, swimming, fishing, and overall fun.
3. Explore the forest for plants that have adapted to live in the rainforest's wet climate.

What should we study during our rest day?

Insects rock! We want to see new insects. There are so many types that haven't been discovered yet we want to see if you can find a new insect.

Could your group split up? Some of you go with Jay and look for interesing insects, and others of you talk to the local kids. We would love to hear about all of this!

I think you should study kid to get to know some of the people and what they do for a living.

I think you should spend time with the kids. they could give you a lot of info!

Bugs! You might find a new one. Jenny

Kids! We want to know about them. We can compare and contrast ourselves to them. Dave

Plants! You might find bugs there, too. Also, there are a lot of plants out there which haven't been discovered. You would have a good chance to find a new one. Meghan and Renata

You will run into thousands of insects and plants later on. You said you wanted to study everything. Why not study the people who live there? We want to compare our lives to theirs.

We think you guys should study insects, because you can find different and undiscovered species.

We think that you should study insects because if you want to find a new species of insects you need to look hard and go out of the way to find some. If you spend your day off studying insects you might find an insect that you can name yourself and call your own. Good Luck!

We think you should study kids, because we hear about the other options alot. We never get to hear about the children. It would be nice to hear the kids in the videos, podcasts, and more. We can't get enough of the kids! kids! kids!

We think you should put your attention towards the plants. This could result in an amazing discovery and can also promote cures of diseases. Denny

I think you should look at plants and hopefully find a new kind of medicine from the plant. Shane

We think you should study plants because there are so many in the rain forest. If you learn about them now,in the future if you get hurt, you will know how to treat your wound.

We want to learn about insects that we can't find here in Illinois!

We think you should split up into 3 groups to study the three area. Plants and the people are what we are most curious about. We studied insects this summer, but Amazon insects could be huge.

I think you should study bugs that we cant find in the United Statesand thats all bye!

I think that you should study plants or insects. Insects are fun and exciting, and plants are pretty and it would be fun to see what kinds of differences Brazil and Illinois have.
