Re-entering city life is quite an adjustment for us after being deep in the Amazon for the past 5 and a half weeks. We've gotten used to watching for dangerous animals, dealing with biting insects, navigating the river, eating lunch in canoes, preparing our meals over camp stoves, sleeping in tents or with bug nets over our sleeping pads, going to the bathroom outside, and many other daily events on the river. Now that we're in Manaus, it's nice to have some of the comforts of home like beds, meals at restaurants, easy internet access and indoor plumbing. Are there things that we should be careful about here in the city that are different from what we've been used to in the jungle? Are there things that we should take advantage of? We welcome any insight you have about the differences between life in the natural jungle versus life in the urban jungle.
In response to yesterday's daily dilemma, you provided us with many different ways to conserve water now that we're no longer living on the river daily. They included things like taking short showers, turning the water off while brushing teeth, and only flushing the toilet when necessary. We will do all of these things and we sincerely hope that you do to at home!

Be careful about: robbers, people who might hurt you, beggars and aggressive marketers. Genevieve says try not to get hit by a car. Walk when you can to keep your carbon footprint low. Check out some schools and communicate and compare cultural information with other people. Go site seeing and shopping for souvenirs. People watch!
Try new foods and unusual restaurants. Keep working on your languages. Check out the music scene.

The city has schools, stores, food, a park, buildings, cars, and expressways,

If showers are shorter you could start scrubbing the shampoo in before you turn the water on. Also if you are brushing you could brush before turning the water on.

We think that you should ask local people for information on both places. We think it will help you very much because they are familiar with the area.

I think that you should take this oppotunity for things you have already done, Like eat at resteraunts, sleep in comfortable beds, but also play games like soccer, baseball, and football. But even though you have all this luxury dont over pamper yourselves.

A solution to your problem is making the city life just like your life at home. You can use your indoor plumbing. You can go to restaurants and get home cooked meals. You can sleep in nice comfortable beds, instead of sleeping bags and hammocks. Now your internet access will maybe be faster. You can also go to amusement parks and go shopping. Those are solutions to your problems.

There are dangers in the city and things to take advantage of in the city. If the group doesn't tell the locals about their expensive items and put a lock on everything of value, then the group won't get hurt and/or get robbed. the group should also try foodsws, water, and have fun by going to fiestas.

You should only take advantage of somethings such as beds, shopping, water, tvs, aqnd fastfood but not too much because then you will not be prepaired to go back to the jungle.

Take advantage of the hotel meals, comfy beds, going bathroom in private, shower it up, and access to cell phones and text-messaging.
Glad you are safe!

I think you should stay there for a short time because you might get too used to the city life and also keep your items close to you so no one could steal them.

I think that being back to a more familiar lifestyle can be difficult too. I think that now that you are more comfortable, you should also be careful to things that you are not used to. You should be careful not to use too much energy now that you are able to because of your easy accessable internet. Since you have not used electricity in quite a while you should be careful not to use too much. Also, when you leave a room that everyone is out of, make sure that you turn off the lights to save energy. Every little thing helps the environment, weather it is turning off the water when you are brushing your teeth, or taking a 5 minute shower, every little thing helps.

You should take advantage of cold drinks, showers, comfy beds, and telephones. Be sure to call you families and let them know you are safe!

I think you should take advantage of the "luxury" you now have. In addition you should be careful to not go crazy with all the "luxuries" and always be nice to navtives, you don't want them to kick you out. If you want to save water you should do all the things you mentioned and also when you drink water don't fill your glass all the way up and if you need more get refils so you drinks everything you have. Finally, to also save water you can uses a dish multiple times before you wash it.

You should be careful about many things in Manaus. There could be pick pocketers. You should also be careful of the intense heat. It could be scary ther eto be there for the first time. There also could be wild animals.
There are also many advantages. One of them is that you will be able to go to the bathroom indoors. You will als ohave many different types of plumbing. Some are sinks, toilets, and you will be able to have beds wit hno nets hovering over the top of your bed. you will also be able to have good food in Manaus. Those are the advantages of staying there.

There are many things you should be wary of, such as robbers and other people you really don't want to mix with. But do not let that take over your time in the city. You should try to take advantage of certain things that are special-you won't get them in the Amazon-like the following:comfy beds, restaurant food, indoor plumbing, and freedom of technology.
