Towns or farms, where should we stay? printer.gif

Daily Dilemma The results are in for the first daily dilemma! After looking at the poll results and your comments we have decided to post a new dilemma each day. Thank you for your input. We found your comments very helpful. We would like to encourage more people to submit well written responses each day.

On Thursday we hope to put our canoes in the water where we finished last year and continue our journey through the rainforest. The area we will be paddling through has small towns and family farms along the river. When we look for a place to camp do you think we should try to stay in a town or on a farm?

If we stay in a town we might be able to find power for our computers, but there would be a lot of people that would gather around us, which can be a little over whelming.

If we stay on family farms then we will have to use our generator to produce our own power, but it would give us a chance to learn about life on a farm, and there would not be as many people to gather around us when we land and unload our canoes.

Keep Exploring!

Dave

Definetly farms, I think you guys will be able to stay closer to the river and you will be able to see a little bit more of a variety of animals.

We think that you should stay on a small farm. It will be easier to do your work if there aren't a lot of people bothering you. You won't have to listen to the sounds of a town. Instead it will be much better to listen to farm sounds. Also, we would like to know what a small family farm might be like in the rain forest. Do they have animals?

I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD STAY IN A FARM BECAUSE IT ISN'T GOING TO BE THAT CROWDED.

The 8th graders think that it would be best to stay on small farms. It would be cool to see the difference between a small farm in the rain forest and the farms we have around here in Missouri. Also, the less distractions mean that the work will be better, that is higher quality and easier to complete. Without distractions, it might be that the work will go faster and the time to use the generator will be less than otherwise. Finally, the sounds of a farm will be more relaxing and you will have a chance to check out the types of animals that a rain forest farm has.

i vote for farms becausethers not alot of people

i vote for farms

i think farms because i dont want you to loose your power

We feel the farm would be a better choice because you will be able to accomplish more on the computer updates rather than have to deal with the chaos of all the people swarming you in the town. Maybe you will see more animals while on the farm and you might be able to trade for some of their fresh foods.

i think small towns because you get to meet new people thats what my dad says

The 7th graders are interested in the comparison of farms along the river in the rainforest and those around here. Particularly, we would like to know about what kinds of farm animals they keep. Also, this seems like a rare opportunity to get away from the life of people in towns and see the life of people living off of the land and the river. And we are interested to know how welcoming the people of the farms would be.

i say a farm because you will get very goooooood milk!!!

I voted farms because you wont want to be flooded by people. Eveyone would be following you if you stay in towns.

We think you should stay at the family farm because there won't be so many people crowding around you, so you'll have some peace and quiet. You can learn a lot about life on the farm.

I say it's your choice because in the town you will meet new people, and see different things and get your own power. But, if you went on a farm you won't be too crowded and you'd be seeing and exploring life on the farms. Good Luck!

Both of our science classes voted for you to stay on a farm. We think it will be a calmer atmoshpere, and you can learn about the animals and the people there.

Two of our classes thought you should stay in small towns. There would be more culture to see, and we think you would be helpful to the town's people and teach them a lot, too.
The other class thought that you might be able to concentrate better if you stayed in a quieter place, like the farm.

I say a farm because I think it would be better where people aren't watching you as much. On a farm, you could learn more about the local people, and, maybe, you could trade/barter for some fresh foods. Do they have the same animals as us on a farm? I wonder about that!

FARMS- BECAUSE YOU COULD LEARN ABOUT MORE ANIMALS AND THINGS LIKE THAT, AND BECAUSE PEOPLE WON'T BOTHER YOU; BUT, I ALSO THINK THAT THE TOWN COULD BE GOOD SO YOU CAN ANSWER THE PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS AND YOU WOULD HAVE ENERGY.

GO FARMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Farms! Since we live in the midwest and farms are all around us, we would like to see what their farms are like.
