Different Strokes for Different Folks... printer.gif

Today we saw a gigantic cruise ship anchored near the village of Capebara. As we arrived at the village, inflatable boats were bringing about 100 tourists to shore. It was quite a coincidence. The cruise ship is traveling the length of the Amazon from the Atlantic Ocean to Iquitos. It will take them about 2 weeks to travel the length of the river. What would be different between the experiences on on the Amazon River aboard a cruise ship versus in a canoe? What would be similar?

Thanks for all of your suggestions about how to navigate the Parana Carau River without traditional maps. Many of you told us to simply buy them. However, there are no maps to be bought for any price. Even the giant river boats don't have maps of the area. We will use your suggestions and use our GPS and compass, as well as ask local people for directions. Local people are a great resource of help. It will truly be an adventure!

a conoe is smaller and you have to paddle plus you in nuture not luxury.

Something similar is that you would get there. You will See animals to. the canoe would go slower. the cruise ship would be letting out gas and polluting the air! good luck!!!!!

The similarities are seeing wildlife and exploring an interesting place. The difference is you get to know the wildlife and the river

A canoe is smaller and you have to paddle. The cuise ship is faster and it is biger and faster to get to were your going. There alike because they both move but it is a little different because the cuise ship needs gas and the canoe doesn't.

the cruise ship is biger then the coanoe

The cruise ship would probably intimidate the animals. A canoe would be better because of the closer encounters with nature. However, a cruise ship would travel there faster and maybe allow more hands-on activities for the tourists.

The cruise ship is different from a canoe because it has windows and it's tall.and the canoe is small and it doesn't have windows.

I think you should take the canoe because you went to the Amazon River to explore not live in luxury. You would probably see more wild life because on the ship you will be polluting the air and Tuesday was earth day so I think we should keep thinking of the earth even though it is not Earth Day still. Thanks for listening to me. :) :) :)

I think that a canoe is better because you can go at your own speed so you can stop at a certain place if you want to see more of it. Also, you can see animals because that was what you originally wanted to see. Also, you can stop at towns and see people for a longer time than you would on a cruise ship. In addition, cruise ships use gas and put pollutants in the air which are especially bad for the rainforest and the environment. Save the earth! : )

On a cruise ship their would be an abundance of food and it would have good beds and lots of free time would be available for you. On your canoe, you run out of food at times and you aslo sleep on the dry riverbeds if yu can find any.

The difference between being on a cruise ship and being on a canoe is that on a canoe, it is quieter so the animals come out. Their would be more food on a cruise ship though and lots more space. You can see more exciting things on a canoe, and it is not as crowded on a canoe.

The cruise ship is much nicer than a canoe. But wouldn't it be expensive?Plus, it is much slower and more crowded.I personally would prefer the canoe but there is a down side :( ,htere may be not enough room in the canoe. The only similarity I can see between the two is that they are boats!(LOL)

Ona cruise ship, it would be crowded and food shortage wouldn't be a problem. Proper beds would aslo be supplied for you. On a canoe, space is a small problem. Storage is hard on a canoe too! Aslo, it is hard to find a proper place to sleep without getting too wet. A similarity is the way you are traveling. You are both on a boat, and your both going down the Amazon river.

The differences are that on a cruise ship there is more room

A luxury boat is big

the canoe only has two people and the launcha has alot more.

Use a canoe because it will not pollute the air like a cruise ship.

a you can move around in a cruise ship.

A canoe is very very small compared to a cruise ship.

If you see a rare animal or anything else interesting, you can't stop to look at it. Jake & Will

You're going a lot slower, so you can see more of nature around you. Kevin

When you're on a cruise ship there are a lot of activities to distract you, and you're missing a lot. Taylor

You can't appreciate how people live, because you don't stop so often to see them. Pip

When you're on a cruise you might sail through the night, and you would miss a lot. Vance

You might meet people from all over on the cruise ship. Nick

In case of bad weather, you will be safe. John

No pirates! Chris

I think you should move around in the canoes because it would be harder to turn cause it is bigger so i think you should move in a canoe a apposed to big cruise ship

A canoe can go differnt places and it's fast and can go into smaller waterwavs. A cruise ship can only move slow and its to big to get into a river.
Good Luck!

It is because it would take alot longer because it is not motered and the boat is luxary and you do not have luxurios
