The mystery photo is of white winged parrots. There are roughly 350 of parrots found throughout the world. Parrots are some of the most intelligent animals found anywhere. They have an amazing navigational ability, as well as the ability to imitate sounds.
Unfortunately, parrots are also the most endangered of all bird species in the wild. Habitat destruction and the illegal pet trade are two major factors why parrots have a difficult time in the wild. They mate for life, thus if one member of the pair is killed or taken from the habitat, the other parrot will never mate again.
Parrots mostly eat nuts, insects, and fruits. They all have a strong, curved beak, which is specifically adapted to breaking open nuts. In fact the largest parrot, the macaw, is the only animal capable of breaking into a Brazil nut, the toughest nutshell in the world.
