Mystry Clue #1: I have a nasty reputation in the Amazon.
Mystery Clue #2: I travel in large groups. I also feed in large groups.
Mystery Clue #3: Together, a group of us can eat animals much, much bigger than me.

The mystery photo is a red-bellied piranha. Piranhas are some of the most abundant fish in the Amazon River, and live throughout South America. While piranhas mostly eat insects, they have been known to ferociously attack mammals much larger than them. Their short jaws certainly are very powerful and lined with razor sharp teeth, well able to take a chunk of flesh out of much larger fish. The piranha's reputation for attacking humans is almost completely exaggerated. Piranhas do not attack humans, and if they do it is very, very uncommon. Bleeding and struggling animals are likely to be bitten in waters that contain large numbers of these fish. However, not all piranhas eat flesh. In fact, there are many species that are vegetarian and use their teeth to crack nuts, which fall into the water.
