These are the impressive teeth of the chambira fish.   The Chambira shares its name for one of the many tributaries that is located near the headwaters of the Amazon.  

These over-sized teeth make catching and holding onto prey pretty easy for this fish.   It's sleek body allow it to navigate the river channels in search of other fish.   These fish pose no danger to humans swimming in the water, and in fact are sought after for its tasty meat.   Many people set nets at night in hopes of gathering food.

The Amazon River is home to amazing array of fish.   Scientists have identified over 3,000 species of fish in the Amazon - more than in the entire Atlantic Ocean.
