How Should We Celebrate? printer.gif

Today's daily dilemma should be a fun one for you to answer.

Today is our first day paddling on the Amazon River. Even though, we're pretty tired from all of the preparations, we still want to make our first night a memorable one.

How should we celebrate? We won't be in any location to go somewhere to celebrate. And our food is the same for each day, so making a special meal is out of the question. However, can you think of something for us to do to make our first night something to remember?

Comments

Listen to your music, have a Project Peru party, have fun, enjoy that you are there, and chat with your friends and the people.
Play a card game of Fish and Amin thought it would be nice to sleep with a tarantula. We wanted to post his cute comment.

Congrats! Happy Trails!

Class 3M has a lot of fun activities for you to do. A few students think it would be a great idea to go night swimming in the Amazon River. Others thought it would be exciting to see if you could identify star constellations in the sky. It may also be fun to collect items you find or make an art project with things from the forest. And one adventurous group would like you to go bat hunting.

Dave you could celebrate by going crazy at a river or going to find some animals you were looking foward to seeing last year that you didn't get to see last year.

To celebrate you can take the food you have and make a fire out of sticks. then you can talk about last years trip or the things you should do this year. You also can make music with the things around you and dance. you can make jokes or play games like guess what animal I am?

Ride a horse into the river. Swing a rope and catch a baby calf. Listen to music and make a conga line. Have fun, be safe, take the motor boat.

I think you should act the animals and your team members will try to figure it out, but you can't make sounds. Also you can make the sounds that the nocturnal animals make and see if they respond to the sound.

To have a memorable night you can listen to some music or lightup some cadles at night like torches and have fun. You can check comments from the other kids or you can send emails.

From Vermont...we say have a dance party and swim with the fishes. Look for an Ocelot and bats! Try not to get eaten says, Abby.

Our 6th Grade class thinks you should look for special nightime animals and dance to some music. Perhaps find some vines to swing on and go to town. OR WE COULD PARTY FOR YOU:)

you should go swimming
and having fun with your
team and children that live
there maybe if they whant
to get wet and if theyre
parents let them that is what i think you should do
for youre first night.
from cindy

Play a scavenger hunt game and try to locate rare animals or plants. Play FANTAN (a card game) or eat one of those large toad legs for a special meal. Take a special photo montage to share with us here in the states. Play "collect as many fruits as you can in a half hour" then make a special fruit salad with your findings.

Mrs. S says you're probably very tired, get a good nights sleep and get ready to paddle away!

Listen to music and jam out and dance, dance, dance! Play games on your computer and play a group game. You may like a dip in the river.

See you later alligator!
3rd period class loves your site - keep on paddling!

Have a trail party and celebrate with swimming or go hunting. If your guys dont wanna party just row the boat and try to get to a new location and then celebrate tomorrow.

You should have a conga line! Those are always fun. They can go around in nature. You don't even need music. Make your own! Go around the water and just explore!! Have fun!

For the first first night, I think you guys should use customs and traditions that the people around you use. I think that would be very unique. You don't have to consume alcohol or anything. I just want you guys to have fun because I come to your site everyday and you guys are soooooo interesting. I love reading the dilemas. Anyway, basically what I am saying is that, do whatever your hearts disire. But please be safe and have a good trip!!!!!

you should remember all of the funny times you've had and make a laugh book so you can always remember the funny times listen to music and dance

I think you sould fish for some amazing looking fish. It would be fun and you could have them be the animal of the day.

I think you should have it any way and play a game like find it or I Spy. Also you can do a conga line, and dance like the natives. When you get done you can look at the stars and tell the others what you think your family is doing.

Since you arrived safely and all of your preparation is finished, we think you should celebrate by stopping to be grateful for all of that. Relax and enjoy that moment. Also, listen to the sounds around you and dance under the stars. Have fun!

Congrats on making it safetly there. We think that you guys should make the night very special by playing games with the kids there. Soccer is a good choice we think. Also you guys should check out the stars and maybe point out some constellations there. Good luck!

i think that you should make a camp fire and relax

I would say just have fun or play some games. Or listen to music. Just enjoy yourselves and celebrate.

Go swimming with the kids - play Marco Polo or Spider Monkey. Enjoy each other's company, sing and dance and try some exotic food - if available.

Celebrate, rest up, and smile - you have made it. You can play leap frog also.

Enjoy your stay! We can't wait to hear and see more.
BE SAFE!!!!!!

Sing songs and tell stories at the campfire
Take a swim
GO out in the canoe and look at stars
Look for bats, monkeys and other animals
Take a special picture of the group

We think you should take some time to explore the area where you will be staying. Enjoy your first night on the river!

Um... you should make a silly dance using your music or you should make up a silly song.

Take a photo, call the locals, dance, eat, party, and enjoy it till you drop down tired.

have a little party with music

You guys should celebrate by having a feast or making a desert that people make in the village that your in

I think that you should camp out in the night in the jungle and see if you can spot any animals that live in that part and take pictures of them.

What I think you guys should do is look for animals like jaguars or reptiles like lizards and birds like toucans because it's you guys first day on a canoe so you should just look for some animals and enjoy your time out in peru and the weather

Greetings from Frankfort, Illinois and Hola amazing scientists!

My wonderful 7th hour would love to see you play hide and seek. Since there is so many ways to camouflague yourselves, this would be extra difficult. Video taping it might be very fun to watch! How about some scary stories around the campfire and then take a must deserved dip - playing (Marco Polo) Water....Frog!!!!

Adios - please, post this. Looking forward to seeing the next video. We do have an expert Mystery Photo student. Troy actually won a treat for all our students.

7th Hour Class

I think you all should have a food fight and gently slap each other with fishes. Listen to music if you can, and play animal charades. Have fun and send us pictures!!!!
From: Ninos Heroes

I Believe that you all should celebrate by playing different games like: who can spot the most insects or fishes before you all fall to sleep. Listen to music if you can and try to get the others to guess what you are listening to..
Good Luck... Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

Our class of second graders came up with some wonderful ideas to keep you busy tonight. One student thinks you should begin your evening by taking lots of pictures and starting your photo album. Another said you should go deep into the rain forest and collect items that are edible. Then fix them up for a special dessert tonight. We also thought the fried plantains looked yummy!

Our fourth graders had many good ideas for them to do! They could go swimming, fishing , tree climbing, or socialize. They could go to sleep in the tree they climbed. One idea was to tell ghost stories!

Hola!

Hey, we think you should dance, dance, dance, and celebrate that you have made it there. We feel that climbing a tree and jumping into the river would be very refreshing.
Gather around the campfire and think about an animal that you would like to adopt. Joey is still wondering about the Matta Matta Turtle, so what about a game of Mattapoly!

Hasta Luego - sleep well and can't wait for tomorrow's updates. Happy Paddles!

My silly, yet fun-loving 8th period class.

Mrs. Hartley
SHJH

you should make a party at a farm then catch one of your favorite fish

YOu could go fishing, look for bats, go swimming, sit around the fire and tell ghost stories or make up stories about animal adventures in the rainforest. Then you could post one of your stories on the web site for us to read.

I think tonight you should watch the stars come out, play flashlight tag and sing "Home on the Range!"

Our class thought you should go swimming in the river, have fun in your canoes (for example, compete in relay races), and have a campfire. It would be fun to sing Kum By Ya (not sure on the spelling) while you're in the Amazon!

Open up your ipods and dance crazily before dinner. See if animals like the music on your Ipod. You could take a night swim.

Happy Celebration Day!

Have a feast with the food in Iquitos and the food in North America and invite the people from South America so they can try the food we eat and you guys can try the food they eat. Then have a game or a way to celebrate in our country and then ask them to show you a tradition there. It will be a fun party and a learning experience!

i think you should play some music, talk with eachother about things that dont have to do with the expedition, and maby even dance.

Room 203 - A campfire is a must. Maybe you could make masks out of things you find around. Go fishing.

Room 205 - Stay up late, for sure. Look for nocturnal animals. Try a different recipe with the same ingredients.

Room 206 - Take a "night hike". Watch the stars from your sleeping bags. Take a jump into some mud!

All classes thought it would be fun to "jump in the lake", maybe with all of your clothes on.
