Giving Gifts printer.gif

The students of Claremont Academy in Chicago gave the expedition two of their school's t-shirts for us to donate to children we meet along the river. At first we thought this would be no problem. There are lots of kids and they would love to get a t-shirt from the U.S.A. However, we're having a really hard time deciding who to give them to. We've met several kids who were very nice, helpful, curious, and well deserving. The trouble is that we don't want to pass out t-shirts in communities when there aren't enough for everyone. We need your help in deciding how we should pass them out and who to give them to.

Comments

Class 3M feels that you should give the t shirts to the next family you stay with.

Maybe make some competions, and the kids have to win the shirts.

maybe you should give them a few t shirts but just enough for you guys

I think that you should give the shirts to the kids who work hard, but you should give them to the kids that look like they don't have as much as others. The ones that need some shelter. Finally, you should give them to smaller communities so that you don't run out

I think you should give them to the most, most, most, most important kids there.

i think you shold give a few t shirts to the older kids so when thay grow out of them thay can pass them down the there youner siblings or younger kids and every 1 will get a chance to were the t shirts i also think you shold give them to a new mother if you meet 1 and also give any small t shirts to babys 4 thay need the wormth

You should take the ,kids on a boat ride. Then you should aske them some questions if you think that they deserve the shirt then before they leave tell them that you have to give them something then give them the shirt. If no then tell them that you could maybe take them on a boat ride again hope i could help

you should play a game and who ever wins gets a tshirt.

you should make a raffle to get the two shirts.

you should give it to the teachers.Or should give it to the people that get good grades.or people win a game of some sport.

Since learning is the name of the game. Reward two students that know the answer to something they learned in school about America.

That way the other children will be compelled to want to be ready the next time. They know that knowledge is rewarded.

It is a type of intermittent reinforcement, but that sort of behavior than can not be extinguished.

I used it when I was a teacher all the time. It is sort of a pop quiz with gifts..very motivating.

give it to poor people

1. Raffle them off to a group that has been helpful to you.
2. Give them to someone who has been of the most value to you.
3. Give the t-shirts to the ones that answer a question the best. My student, Milcla, said you can ask a question about people or our countries.
4. Or give to someone who appears to need it the most.
5. Save the t-shirts for a family who has given you food or shelter.
6. Give it to the ones who win some type of game you set, like teasing the cow (although the teacher says you should probably give it to the loser of that game!).
7. Have a milking contest. You give the t-shirts to the winners and you get the milk.

The class voted on number 6 as their favorite, but I think they just like the idea of teasing a cow. I've been chased by a bull before and it was not fun.

I think you should do a raffle or contest for the children. Since most of all of them would want a shirt they should all participate. It's only fair.

I think you should hsve them play the game think of a number

I think you should give them to who your favorite friend (kid) that has helped you get out of a bad case.

You should find two kids who are having a birthday and give the shirts to them as a present. You could give them to two very needy kids who don't own much, or to two of the best behaved children you meet.

We think that you should give the t-shirts to the next two kids that help you out along your travels.

Ask for children's names and write them down an put them in a hat. They could play hot potato. They could play musical chairs.

I think you should give raffile tickets to kids that work hard then raffile them out

i think you should give raffile tickets just like what mitchel thought because then it would just be luck so someone dosn't fell sad becuase they didnt get one

you should hand them out to the kids who need them most and by that I mean you should give them to the kids with the poorest housing conditions, and those without clothes or in need of them.

i think you should give it to the most deserving kids that need the clothes the most because some children can get there own clothes and others dont have any .

:]

you should have a raffle to see who wins the shirts also make sure it is only neede people also you could raffle other stuff with it so every one cold get somthing so not one person is left out

Hold a contest and give tee-shirts as the prize to the winners. At the beginning of the contest tell the kids that there can only be so many winners because you only have so many prizes. I think it's a good idea but I don't know what they do their that you could hold a contest for. Good Luck!

i think you should give them to a kid who doesn't really have anything. or give it to someone who is really close to you and has done a lot for you.

make up a fun contest, and who ever ends up in 1st and 2nd place gets the tshirts.

i think you should give one shirt to 2 towns and tell them to share it around in the town(and wash it),then pass it on to a different town.

I would find a really nice town, and slpit tem up into two age groups. Then I would hold a compition to win the tshirts

I think you guys should give the t-shirts to the kids that are the most in need and don't have much. If I was a kid in the Amazon that was poor, I would definitely want a nice clean shirt from the U.S.A.

I like the idea of giving the t-shirts to the children in a family you stay with.....assuming there are enough shirts to go around.

Stay safe Dave and Company!

Dad

We think that you could either give the t-shirts to a community center or village leader, and those people could decide which kids should have the t-shirts.

You could also have a lottery, or tell them that they can only have one shirt per family.

Good luck!

I think you should maybe give it to the kids that are less fortunate. I also like the idea that Zoe had, that you should give the t- shirt to the older kids so they could pass it down. Good luck!

don't give them out when in cities

I THINK YOU SHOULD ONLY
GIVE THE T-SHIRT'S TO THE
KIDS THAT ALMOST DON'T HAVE
ANY CLOTHES AND DON'T HAVE
LIKE ENOUGH OF NOTHING AND
YOU THINK TAH TOSE KIDS NEED MORE CLOTHES IS THE ONES THAT YOU SHOULD GIVE THE T-SHIRT'S TO NOT KIDS
THAT HAVE CLEAN CLOTHES AND YOU DONT THINK THEY NEED MORE CLOTHES.

I think you should give then to the nicest boy and girl that you meet.

YOU COULD GIVE THEM TO KIDS THAT ARE BIRTHDAYS,KIDS THAT ARE REALLY POOR,OR YOU COULD FIND SOME REALLY GOOD KIDS

i think you should give
it to the poor people and
not the wealthy!!!

I think that you should pass the t-shirts out to kids who are disabled or less fortunate. The reason is they feel loved, recognized, and like a part of the comminuity. I know this because my cousin is disabled. He really feels great when he learns how to say a new word or figures out how to work something.
-Dave and team you are doing great with everything you are doing. Keep up the good work.

you should give them to the next family you stay with and the people who dont have much, mckenna.
