How can you help save the rainforest?
Some of the problems we encountered today were: harvesting endangered animals for food, the illegal pet trade, deforestation, water and air pollution.
What do you think is the greatest problem the rainforest faces? What are some of the solutions? How does education play a role in saving the rainforest? What are some things you can do at home to help protect the rainforest?
Our time in Peru is running out. These are some big issues to discuss and we want to know what you think. Send us your responses!

I think the main problem in the rainforest is that people are cutting down more trees that are home to many animals, so people should stop cutting down a couple of trees for a while. If people are destroying the animal habitats so they can have more space for the people to build homes, the animals will not have a place to sleep.

you should try to save endangered animals by buying them and setting them free try youre best!

The problem is that some people do not respect the rainforest. You can plant more trees to become homes for many animals. At nome, I will make a poster at home telling people to save the rainforest.

THE THINGS I CAN DO TO SAFE THE RAINFOREST IS TO STOP CUTTING TREES AND TO STOP BURNING TREES SO WE CAN HAVE OXYGEN NOT POLLUTION.

I think that the problem in the rainforest is that the people are cutting down the trees and are destroying the animals habitat so they could build more furniture and things we need to use. They are destroying the rainforest. They don't care about animals, they just care about themselves.

I think that the main problem in the rainforest is that people are cutting down more trees that are home to many animals, so people should stop cutting down a couple of trees for a while, and there will be more homes for many animals that live in the rainforest, and apart from that, if people are only care for what they need and not what the rainforest`s animals need in the rain forest and if they destroy the rain forest many animals will be left without a home and we will not be able to see the wonders of the rain forest.

we could plant alot of trees and we could make a parade to tell people to stop cutting trees or stop destroying the forest.

We think you should use more things that don't pollute the air like ride a bike or walk.
We also think you should restrict hunting - maybe you could have an area where it is okay and put a fence so you can keep the endangered animals out.
In the pet stores, we have seen endangered animals, they should not capture them and sell them here.

Hi Team
Come Soon and its very interest about the Daily Dilemma.i cant wait about your interest things that your team do.We dont want that the trees cut because the trees gives us more oxygen than more pollution because if the pollution gets more we can died because of the pollution that is very bad for the humans and animals.

We think that both deforestation and the extinction of animals go hand in hand as a problem. We should stop cutting down the trees because it is only making it worse. There should be laws in Peru against this. Stop harvesting animals because it is only making the rainforest smaller. Stop selling the animals because the owners might want to kill them and eat them. Stop killing the animals because if you are killing every species it would take away the population. Stop deforestation because you are just making the oxygen supply go away. Don't sell the animals becuase they could be poisonous.

people are cutting trees and animals live in those trees . so that means that pepople are destroing animals habitat. people cut those trees to make furniture

We think that the number one thing that people can do is educate on illegal loggers and teach people why it is so important not to cut down the rainforest.

i love the mystery photo with the jaguar. i loved it. My teacher got grossed out though.

My class all felt that illegal logging and illegal harvesting of animals are the biggest problems. Addy feels that the poice in Peru need to become more involved in catching people who are breaking the law. Dylan thinks that people who live in the rainforest could keep a closer eye on illegal activity and turn animals loose if they are in traps. Hunter feels that we should all stop buying any rainforest animal here in the USA and then there won't be as much demand for them. Finally, people in Peru could make a strong effort to always keep planting new trees in the rainforest to replace the ones that are logged or used for building.
Thanks for an awesome trip!

We think deforestation is the biggest problem.Too many animals are losing their homes, and we're losing precious oxygen. People need to think long and hard before they tear down trees!!
Posted by: Nina Spallino | May 11, 2007 2:01 PM
The biggest problem is losing the trees. Without them we won't have the oxygen to breathe. We need to plant more trees in the rainforest or have someone do it.

Deforestation is the greatest threat to the rainforest. We can stop this by not cutting down the rainforest trees or burning them. We need the rainforest for medicine, chocolate, lotions, etc. I at home can recycle to help cut down the need for paper, which is made from trees.

one way adults can help the rainforest is to stop buying wooden furniture from the rainforest, always ask where it from before purchusing and don't buy meat from brazil they cut down the rainforest to have room for cattle. Do you know how long it takes for an acre of land in the amazon to grow back, after deforestation? 300 years! and from 1979-2000 they cut down more than 5.4 million acres, so we have to help!

the destruction of the rainforest is horrible. people cut down trees and kill animals because they need wood for fires and things like that, they are selfish people. We need the rainforest, if it is destroyed we will lose so many things, animals, wtaer, oxygen, paper, fruits, spices, flavorings and many more. and especially the rosy periwinkle, a plant that is used to treat cancer, and AIDS. SO DONT DESTROY THE RAINFOREST!

I think it is upsetting how people can just go kill animals, leave them with no home and safety and even food. So i think they should make a rule. A rule that says you cannot kill any endagered animals, and then if they do they can get sent to jail. XX
