What should we focus on in next week´s Notes From the Trail? printer.gif

Next week we´ll be focusing on food. Lots of questions come to us about what we eat, what people in Peru eat, and how the food is grown. We´re going to let you decide what Monday´s Notes From the Trail should be about.

Here are your options:

Write about farms and farmers in the rainforest. Most of the people who live in the rainforest gather their food from the forest. But, most families also have a garden where they grow exotic fruits and vegetables. Many people also raise chickens, pigs, wild peccaries, turkeys, and ducks for meat and eggs. Farmers are always interesting people to talk with, because they have a strong connection to the land.

Write about animals people eat in the rainforest. Have you ever wondered type of animals people hunt for food in the rainforest? We could talk with some hunters in Lagunas about what they like to look for in the rainforest. Hunters generally know where to find animals and could give us some good ideas about how to search for animal trails and tracks.

Write about what the Expedition Team eats. Are you wondering what we packed in our canoes for our trip into the rainforest. We aren´t any good at hunting, and we´ll be traveling, so gathering fruits and vegetables will be difficult to fit into our busy day. We´ve packed over 200 lbs. of food. Are you curious about what it is, whether or not we like it, and why we chose to bring it?

Let us know what you think and why.

I think that it would be very it would be interesting to learn what the people that live in or near the rainforest eat. How do they know which plants are good for what need?

I want to learn more about what the people eat.

I think you should talk about the Rainforest animals and hunting because what do you hunt for in the rainforest?! Can you eat things from the rainforest?!

If you needed to, do you have any weapons to hunt food?

On the daily dilemma we voted on things you can do and we wanted you to look for monkeys.

I think you should talk about what animals people eat in the rain forest. You never know, there could be some really cool animals that most people haven't ever heard about. Or it could just be like what we eat but,I say give it a try!

Hello, i was just going to say that i think that it is okay to hunt rainforest animals. I think you should only do it if you need it for food, not money or coats. I also think that no matter what the reason is you should never cut down rain forest's. What do u think?-BRENNAN
