How should Ruben transport our gear from town to town?
While Dave, Eric, Patrick, and I are biking, Ruben is in charge of getting all of our computer equipment, extra clothes, etc. (basically everything that we can’t carry on our bikes) from one town to the next. We have two options for how Ruben can do this. He could travel on Colectivos, which is a bus—the public transportation here in northern Peru. This mode of travel is pretty inexpensive, only 5 Soles (about $1.75). The downsides to using this mode of travel are: the Colectivos can be crowded, it would probably be difficult for Ruben to carry our three large and heavy pieces of luggage, and there is a chance of theft happening.
The other option that we could use would be to hire a taxi to drive Ruben and the luggage from one town to another. This option is more expensive, about 50 Soles (about $17). The benefits are that Ruben wouldn’t have to carry the luggage as much and it would be safer. Which of these options do you think is best?

I think Reuben should use a taxi. It may be more expensive, but the team wouldn't lose equipment nor would they be squished under everyone else in the bus

I think he should go on the taxi because it is safer and he does not have to carry anything. Please write back. Thank you!!!

I have been on those buses in Costa Rica. Different name same game. If you have the money go for the taxi. Safety first.

Hire a taxi! It's not that much money, and it's worth it for the extra security (imagine the fiasco if your equipment was lost or stolen!) and to conserve Ruben's energy a little.

I think Ruben should take the taxi. Unless you guys are limited on money.

I think that Amy should tell Ruben to hire a taxi, if you have the money to. That can be risky for Ruben to carry all of that luggage on the bus. Also you wouldn't want anyone stealing it, would you?

Our class thinks you should take the taxi because it is safer and nothing will get stolen. We realize it is more expensive but you will be safer.

We think Ruben should take the taxi cab because taking the taxi will lower the risk of the items being taken. Even though the cost is $17, the equipment is worth much more.

I think he should take the bus.

i think that they should get a taxi because the cost of the equipment is a lot more than $75.

You should transport by public transportation because it is cheaper.

I'd have him take the cab. I mean, it's only $17 and he doesn't have a great chance of being robbed.

We think it would be more convenient to take a taxi.

We think that Ruben should take a taxi. It is safer and it would cost more to replace lost luggage.

We think you should use a taxi. It's a lot safer and easier. You can lose a lot more money if you lose your bags!

We think a taxi would be best if money is not an issue for your team.

This is a tough one. The seventh graders think that the bus is good because it is better for the earth when many people travel together. Also, the bus is cheaper. But the bus is not really safe for the equipment and gear. If someone damages or takes your computers, you won't be able to do the expedition update. Also, by using a taxi or rented car, Reuben won't be tied to a bus schedule. We think then, that safer is better. You should rent a car or taxi for Reuben. Maybe buy some carbon credits to offset the difference between bus and single auto travel.

Better to be safe than sorry, so spend the extra $15.25! Good Luck!

We think you should take the taxi because it will be safer for Rueben and your equipment!

I think that Ruben should take the taxi cab, because then nothing would be stolen and its not so crowded.

Hire a taxi! Think of the $15.25 extra that you spend on the taxi as insurance for the expensive equipment that Ruben has to carry. A taxi is certainly worth the extra cost for the convenience, safety and security of the Ruben and the cargo that he must port and accompany.

As a class we think you should take a taxi because it is safer for your equipment, less tiring for Reuben and $17 dollars isn't much compared to what you might pay for lost equipment.

I think that they should get a taxi and the taxi can drive the luggage.

Better safe than sorry! Ruben should Take the taxi. Using a little money won't hurt!

I think that Ruben should take the taxi. Therefore, he wouldn't have to worry about the crowded busses with the thefts and also if there are too many people on the bus he would have to take the next bus and you may need the equipment before he even gets there.

I think a taxi: 15.75 more to not take the chance of losing hours and hundreds of dollars on equipment

I think you should take a taxi. The reason I pick that is because it may cost more but it is safer and safer is better. Unless you have limited money then you take a bus. Please write back.

Some of our class think a taxi is the best option because we think it is safer, easier, and we worry about you getting robbed. However, one of our most intelligent students, thinks that you should carry the gear on the bus, and if you get robbed, you should go after the thief and offer that he join your trip if he wants your gear that badly.

Better safe than sorry spend the extra money get a taxi

We feel he should take the taxi because it is safer. The items that might get stolen are much more expensive than the cost of the taxi. It would delay your trip to take time to replace them.

We unanimously vote for taking a taxi since it is safer and easier.

Defenitly a taxi.

I would choose to take the taxi because 1].they will not have to stop at lots of places-a taxi will take you there without stopping and 2].your luggage will be very safe where a bus might be filled with stealers who could steal the things you will need
