How much time should we spend exploring the Andes Mountains?
The goal of the Trans-Amazon Expedition is to study how plants, animals and people survive in the Amazon Rainforest, and look at how global warming, and other environmental factors relate to the Amazon. In some ways we are anxious to get to the Amazon Rainforest, but we are also interested in exploring the Andes by bicycle.
We will be traveling through as many ecosystems on our 500 mile journey through the Andes as we would during a trip from the North Pole to the Equator, and we will be passing through many towns full of fascinating people who live in ways that are very different than our lives in the US.
We are excited about reaching the rainforest because of the variety of plants and animals that we will encounter there, but we know the mountains will also a lot of interesting experiences.
Should we try to move quickly through the mountains so that we can enter the rainforest as soon as possible, or should we spend more time on our bike journey so that we can studying the plants, animals, and people of the Andes in more detail?

Hearing stories and learning from the people in the Andes mountains would be such a valuable experience. Plus, the mountains will be such a contrast from the rainforest, where you have traveled before.

I think you should stay longer and explore because, you guys love to explore. And also there's going to be animals there(some are the same from the rainforest and, some are not) but, you will get to see more animals and, discover facts about the animals. -Taylor T.
